Wistia Large Language Model Embed Codes

Boost your media SEO by using an LLM-friendly embed code optimized for AI search results.

Written by Caroline F

A large language model (LLM) friendly embed code is designed to make your videos more accessible to LLMs, increasing the chances that your videos will appear in AI search results. This embed code works with both video and audio embeds.

The LLM-friendly embed code appears the same way an inline embed code does on a webpage—the media plays inline, with the rest of your content.

Tip

LLM embed codes currently work best with ChatGPT and Perplexity.

The key piece here is that LLM-friendly embed codes require the presence of a transcript, as the transcript is injected directly into the embed code for LLMs to read and surface in search results. Without a transcript, the LLM option will not appear.

Note

The media's transcript is included in LLM embed codes. If the transcript is updated, the embed code will not dynamically update to match the new transcript. If you make any significant updates to the transcript (including replacing a media), be sure to swap out the old embed code for a new one so that LLMs are able to read and surface the correct content.

Note

When using an LLM embed, there is a very small tradeoff with page and site speed, as more content (the transcript) is being loaded. However, since this content is simple (plain HTML text), it won't markedly affect load times.

Get started with LLM-friendly embeds

Within the embed modal, you can select an LLM-friendly embed code. This is a standard, inline embed code that can be responsive or fixed size.

Captions are enabled by default for LLM-friendly embeds and can't be turned off. This keeps the transcript that loads before playback consistent with the captions shown during playback. There isn't currently a way to disable captions for this embed type.

Tip

If your media has multiple transcript languages, the LLM-friendly embed includes the transcript in the media's default language.

Note

LLM-friendly embed codes are not compatible with iframe or popover embeds.

If you'd like to see a preview of your embed code before adding it to your webpage, click "Show Embed Code." When you're ready, click "Copy Code" and paste it into your website builder.

Note

If you're embedding via the API, LLM-friendly embed codes cannot currently be generated this way, and need to be copied from a media's manage page in your Wistia account.

Responsive LLM embed code

A responsive code allows the player to respond to the width of the parent container. It will resize dynamically to fit the container and browser window.

Fixed size LLM embed code

A fixed size embed code sets the exact size you'd like the player to be. When set, the player will always remain at this size.
