Changes to Pardot Video Engagement Tracking

Written by Katie

Pardot’s legacy Wistia Connector is no longer reliable in syncing video engagement data. Thus, we have added a Wistia-owned update to provide viewer-level percent watched, so you can again use video engagement for scoring and automation. Wistia remains the source of truth for video analytics.

Update your integration

As of April 16, 2026, to leverage the latest version of this integration, you must:

  1. Disconnect and reconnect your existing Pardot integration in Wistia.

  2. Use a Wistia Turnstile connected to Pardot or the Wistia Player API to collect leads.

Both steps are required to sync Wistia video engagement data to Pardot.

Note

To send video engagement events as Activities that appear on the prospect timeline, ensure Engagement activities (external activity support) is enabled when connecting the integration.

Pardot forms currently only serve as a lead capture sync.

How it works

After updating your integration, we'll create two custom fields for Pardot Prospects:

  • Wistia Last Video Watched

  • Wistia Last Video Watched Percent

Video watch milestones (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) will be synced to these fields along with the video name. New watch events will overwrite the existing values in these fields.

If "Engagement activities" is enabled for your integration, we'll also send video engagement events as Activities that appear on the prospect timeline:

  • video_played

  • video_watched_25

  • video_watched_50

  • video_watched_75

  • video_watched_100

Each activity includes:

  • The identified prospect (email)

  • The type of interaction

  • When it happened

  • The video context (ID + name)

See our Pardot integration overview to learn more about connecting and using the integration.

FAQ

Is this replacing the Pardot-built Wistia Connector?

Yes. This is now the Wistia-owned solution for syncing video engagement data to Pardot. The Pardot-owned connector is no longer reliable. If you want to continue syncing video engagement data, we recommend connecting the integration through Wistia.

Will historical video engagement be backfilled?

Only new watch events after connection/reconnection will sync with this release.

Does this work for webinars?

No. The webinar integration was not impacted by the Pardot-built Wistia Connector no longer working.

What about heatmaps or video reports in Pardot?

Pardot heatmaps and video reports remain unreliable. We recommend using Wistia for video analytics and visualization, and Pardot to act on the engagement signals we send.

What happens if Engagement activities (external activity support) is not enabled?

The integration can still connect and continue syncing Prospect fields, but activity syncing will remain off.

Tip

If external activity setup fails because your Salesforce org does not support the required Marketing App objects, the options available are:

  • Enable Marketing App Extensions for the Account Engagement org, then try setting up again

  • Or, reconnect the Pardot integration in Wistia and turn off "Engagement activities" during setup to continue without activity syncing
