Add audio to your media
With the Wistia Editor, you can add background audio to your media. We offer a wide range of royalty-free background music, but if you have something else in mind, you can use your own custom audio file. Just head to the editor to get started.
Add custom audio
Open the editor, and navigate to the "Audio" panel. From the "My audio" tab, upload a new audio file or choose an existing audio file from your Content Library.
Note
Uploaded audio is saved per user and reusable across edit sessions.
Hover over your desired audio file, then click the "+" icon to add it to the timeline. You can add multiple audio files.
Once added, you can trim, split, and reposition the audio. We cover editing in more detail here for reference. If needed, the volume of your audio can be adjusted from the "Clip info" tab.
Note
The video track defines the overall duration, so audio cannot play past the end of the video.
Add Wistia-created music
From the editor, click the “Audio” icon in the left-hand menu, then open the "Creative library" tab. Here, you'll discover Wistia’s highly curated, royalty-free background music for all of your webinars, interviews, social posts, and more.
To add a track, hover over it and click the "+" icon. Choose between "Add full length" and "Add intro / outro" based on your needs.
Tip
Want music for the entirety of your content? Choose "Add full length." Want musical bumpers for the beginning and end of your content? Select "Add intro / outro."
If you'd like to adjust the volume, head to the "Info" tab.
You won’t need to make any edits to ensure the track fits your media. Our Smart Track technology takes the heavy lifting out of editing background music, and it automatically adjusts to fit the length of your video or audio.
If you choose an intro/outro set, you’ll have the ability to customize the duration by selecting the grab handle on the audio timeline and dragging to your heart’s content.
Delete audio
To remove any audio you've added to your media, select the audio track, then click the trash icon above the timeline.
If you'd like to remove custom audio from the "My audio" library, hover over the uploaded audio file and click the trash icon to delete it.
