In this article, we’ll cover how to customize audio content in your account. If you're looking to customize a video, check out this article.

Customization options for audio files include player color, thumbnail, share options, add chapters, and transcripts. You can also load settings from another media in your account to apply to the one you're customizing. To access these options, click "Customize" on the media page.

Once in Customize, click into the tab of the feature you’d like to adjust.

Appearance and brand

Visit the "Appearance & brand" tab to customize the player color, style, and corners.

Tip

Check out our accessibility overview for more information on high-contrast player background colors.

Cover image

If you’ve got some cover art to showcase, visit the "Image" tab to upload it to your audio content. Click "Upload image" to choose a file from your device. Uploaded images must be square, with a minimum size of 1400 x 1400 pixels and a maximum size of 3000 x 3000 pixels.

Once uploaded, click "Replace image" to choose a new cover, or "Delete" to remove the image completely.

Share

In the "Share" tab, you can customize the sharing options available to your audience.

The "Embed" option will allow listeners to copy an inline embed code for the file. You may also enable share buttons for listeners to share your audio content via email, or to Facebook, X, and LinkedIn.

When share options are enabled, listeners can access them by opening the hamburger menu at the top right of the audio player.

Chapters

Chapters are a great option to help listeners navigate to or repeat specific parts of your audio content.

Once you've enabled Chapters for your audio file, you can automatically generate chapters via AI or manually add them.

You can also adjust and edit your Chapters via the timeline below the player. Check out this article for a detailed breakdown of adding Chapters to your video.

Once you’ve saved your Chapters, you can click the hamburger menu in the upper right corner of the player and then click into the "Chapters" tab, which will bring up the navigable Chapters list.

Transcripts

After uploading your audio file, we'll automatically generate a transcript. To hide or enable the transcript on the public media page, open the media preview page and toggle the "Transcript" option on or off.

In the "Transcript" tab of the customization panel, you can choose if you'd like to show the transcript to your audience.

With this enabled, your audience can click the hamburger icon followed by the "Transcript" tab. They'll see the option to open and view the transcript in a new browser tab.

If your audio file is also referenced in a Channel, you can hide or enable the transcript in your Channel customization settings.

Check out our transcripts and captions overview for more information on creating or editing transcripts in Wistia.

Load settings

If you’d like to add customizations from one media to another, select “Load Settings.”

In the "Load settings" pop-up menu, search for or select the media from which you'd like to copy customizations for the current file. Customizations from the Appearance, Controls, and Share sections will be applied.

Once you select a media, click “Apply and Save.”

Set folder defaults

If you’d like to apply an audio media's customizations to others in a folder, select “Set Folder Defaults” from the media page.

You can apply the customizations to all media currently in the folder and/or all future media uploaded to the folder.

Note

Default settings will be applied to all media in the folder and all subfolders.

Once you’ve selected an option, click “Apply.”
