Add Slides to Your Video

Add slides between video clips from the editor.

Written by Hanna

With the Wistia Editor, you can add fully customizable slides to your video. Create short text or image compositions to introduce topics, separate sections, or call out a key point. Choose from Wistia-designed templates (or start from scratch) and further customize the text, image, logo, and background of each slide.

Add slides

In the editor, click the "Add" button from the side panel, then click "Slide." From here, you can start off with a Wistia-designed template based on a brand kit or use a blank slide.

After making your choice, add a slide to the timeline by hovering over it and clicking the "+" button or by dragging and dropping it. Once a slide has been added, you can begin customizing it.

Customize slides

After adding a slide to your video, you can make it your own using the Slide info panel. Slide info contains all the customizable elements available on the slide. This panel can be accessed by opening the "Info" tab in the editor while a slide is selected on the timeline.

Tip

The Info panel is dynamic and will change based on what is selected on the timeline.

Customize slide text

Clicking placeholder text on a slide will reveal a Text menu bar below the video previewer. Within this menu, you can change the selected text's font type, color, size, and format.

Double-clicking the placeholder text will allow you to edit the copy and include any information relevant to your video.

From the Slide info panel, click into a Text element to for even more customization options, such as:

  • Font (Type, Color, Size, Alignment, Capitalization)

  • Stroke (Weight, Color)

  • Shadow (Size, Color)

  • Text background (Color, Opacity)

  • Border (Color, weight, Radius)

  • Animation style

Customize slide background

To change your slide's background, select "Background" from the Slide info panel.

Then, click the "Background" button to choose a solid, gradient, or pattern background. Use the Opacity slider to adjust the transparency of the slide background and the Border controls to create a border around it.

Customize slide logo

If you've chosen a slide template that includes a logo, we'll automatically pull the primary logo from your account. However, you can choose any logo from your Asset Library. Open the Slide info panel and select "Logo" to pick a different brand logo.

Add text or images to a slide

To add new elements to your slide, head to the Slide info panel, then click "Add element." From here, you can add a title, subcopy, or body text to the slide or drop in images.

The images you can choose from are ones that were previously uploaded or AI-generated from the Image overlay panel.

Editing slides on the timeline

Slides behave like clips on the timeline. You can rearrange, trim, extend, delete, and apply transitions on either end.

Tip

Right-click on a slide for quick actions like trim, split, move, and delete.

A few more things to keep in mind:

  • Minimum slide duration is 0.1s

  • Splitting a slide creates two slides with the same content

Delete a slide

To delete a slide, select it or right-click on it from the timeline, then click the "Trash" button or hit the "delete" key on your keyboard.
