Wistia Webinar Attendee Guide

Everything you need to join and enjoy a Wistia webinar as an attendee.

Registered for a Wistia webinar? Read through this guide so you know exactly how to join, what to expect, and how to participate.

Step 1: Register for the webinar

To attend a Wistia webinar, you'll first register through the link the host shared with you. Enter the requested details (such as your name and email) and submit the form to confirm your spot.

After registering, you'll see a confirmation message on the registration page. You can also add the event to your Google Calendar, Apple iCal, or Microsoft Outlook calendar.

If the host has enabled email notifications, you'll also receive an email confirmation with your unique join link. Keep this handy—it's how you'll enter the event when it's time. Do not share this link with others, as it's tied to your registration.

Step 2: Join the webinar

When it's time for the event, click your join link. We recommend joining a few minutes early so you're settled before the webinar begins.

Join on your laptop or desktop using Google Chrome for the best experience.

Step 3: While you wait

If you arrive before the webinar goes live, you'll see a waiting screen. This is normal—the hosts and panelists are preparing backstage, and the event will begin at the scheduled time.

As an attendee, you do not need to set up a camera or microphone. You'll watch and listen to the presenters, and take part through chat, questions, and polls if available.

Step 4: Watch and participate

Once the webinar goes live, the presenters will appear on stage, and you'll be able to see and hear them. As an attendee, here's how you can take part:

  • Chat: Share comments and connect with other attendees in the chat panel. You can post messages, reply to others, and react.

  • Questions & Answers (Q&A): Submit questions for the hosts and panelists. Depending on the event, questions may be answered live or in writing, and you may be able to upvote questions from others.

  • Polls: If the host runs a poll, it will appear on your screen—just select your answer to participate. Results may be shared with the audience.

Tip

Keep an eye on the chat and Q&A panels throughout the event. Hosts often share links, resources, and answers to common questions there.

If you can't see or hear the presentation

If the stream stops, freezes, or the audio drops out, try these steps:

  • Refresh the page, or leave and rejoin using your original join link—this resolves most issues.

  • If rejoining doesn't help, open your join link in a new incognito/private browser window (Chrome).

  • Make sure you're using Google Chrome on a laptop or desktop (Safari, mobile, and iPad are not fully supported).

  • Check your internet connection and move closer to your router if needed.

  • Close other tabs, apps, or downloads that may be using your bandwidth.

Step 5: Leave the webinar

You can leave the webinar at any time by closing the tab or clicking the leave/exit option. If the host makes a recording available afterward, you may receive a link to watch it on demand.

Thanks for attending—we hope to see you at another event soon!

Additional troubleshooting

Having trouble registering, joining, or viewing the webinar? Try refreshing, rejoining with your original link in Chrome, and checking your connection. If you're still stuck, let the host know so they can contact Wistia Support during the event.
