Choose your embed style

Wistia embeds come in two main styles, Inline and Popover. Each style has a different visual appearance and unique options. You can even embed multiple videos in an eye-catching gallery with Wistia Channels.

Inline embeds

Inline is the most common style of video embed, for placing a media player directly where you want it on the page.

Inline is also the best option for accessibility and video SEO in terms of prominence and visibility. If you just want to put a video on your website, this is the option for you.

Popover embeds

Popovers display as a thumbnail with a play button. Clicking play reveals a media player hovering over the page in a "theater" style display.

A popover can be launched from almost any element on your page - images, links, buttons – in addition to the default thumbnail and play button. This is a great option for fitting videos neatly alongside other important content like text or images, or just adding a more engaging visual experience to your content.

Channel embeds

Create and embed an eye-catching gallery of content with Wistia's Channels feature. Channels are made to look professional out of the gate, with the familiar branding and customization options Wistia is known for.

Use Channel subscriptions to generate leads and connect with your audience, and even publish and distribute a podcast right from Wistia.

Choose your embed sizing

Wistia embeds can remain at a fixed size or be fully responsive to any screen or browser.

Sizing is a bit different for each style of embed, so refer to the articles on Inline, Popover, or Channel Embeds for more details.

Responsive

The most flexible sizing option, responsive embeds will resize dynamically to fit any container, browser window, or screen. Responsive sizing ensures your content looks great on all screen sizes, from desktop monitors to mobile phones.

Fixed size

Specify exact dimensions for your embed with Fixed Size. The media player will always display at this size, giving you precise control over how it appears on your page.

Advanced Options

Use oEmbed URLs

oEmbed is a popular format that simplifies embedding by using URLs instead of HTML code. This option can be used on platforms with Wistia oEmbed support.

SEO metadata

Enable this option and the Wistia player will automatically include SEO metadata on your webpage, so your videos can be indexed for search. Get your videos populating in video search results and pull organic traffic to your content and site.

Email campaign embeds

Email campaign embeds add a clickable thumbnail image to your email body. When recipients click the thumbnail, they're taken to the video's dedicated page, offering a creative way to share and market your videos.

Wistia offers platform-specific embed codes for popular email marketing tools including MailChimp, HubSpot, Klaviyo, and many more, which can automatically collect recipient emails to identify audience members within your Wistia stats.
