Once you've configured your podcast feed and published at least one episode, it’s time to make your podcast available on your audience's favorite platforms. To get listed on a podcast directory, you’ll need an account with that directory and your RSS feed URL from Wistia. Your podcast RSS feed URL contains all of the metadata and information about your show and episodes.

To access your podcast’s RSS feed URL, click the "Podcasting" menu on the Channel page.

Then, open the "Distribution" tab on your Podcast settings page.

Copy your RSS feed URL at the bottom of the page, and you’ll be ready to submit it to directories.

In the Distribution tab of your Podcast settings page, click "Connect" next to Apple Podcasts. From there, you’ll be able to see a step-by-step guide that walks you through how to submit your podcast to Apple. Or, you can follow the instructions here!

1. Copy your RSS feed URL from Wistia

To distribute your podcast on Apple Podcasts (formerly iTunes), you’ll first want to copy your RSS feed URL from Wistia. You can find the link to your RSS feed under the “Distribution” tab in your Podcast settings.

2. Create an Apple Account and an iTunes Store account

We recommend creating a new Apple Account for your podcast, especially if you’re submitting a podcast on behalf of your company. This way, multiple people on your team can manage the account without accessing your personal account.

The Apple Account must be used to sign in to purchase items in the iTunes Store, App Store, Apple Books, or Apple Music. This categorizes the Apple Account as an iTunes Store account. Once you create an Apple Account, you will be guided through authentication and ready to log in.

3. Log in to Apple Podcasts

Once you have your new Apple Account, use it to log in to Apple Podcasts Connect.

4. Submit your podcast using your RSS feed URL

If you’re submitting your first podcast, Apple Podcasts Connect will have a blank page with a "+" in the top-left corner. Select the "+" button to enter your RSS feed URL and select "Validate."

Validation allows you to review your Podcast’s information. Make sure the title, categories, language, media, copyright, website link, explicit disclaimer, and episode list are all correct. If you want to update anything, you can do so in the Podcast settings in your Wistia Channel.

If everything looks correct, select "Confirm" to submit your feed to Apple Podcasts. Apple will send an approval email with a link to your podcast's listing. Keep this link handy for the next step.

​5. Head back to "Connect" next to Apple Podcasts

Once your podcast has been approved by Apple, select "Connect" next to Apple Podcasts again. Scroll down to paste your Apple Podcasts URL, and then click "Submit." This connects your Apple Podcasts URL to Wistia, so your Channel visitors can subscribe directly to your podcast on Apple from within your Channel.

To distribute your podcast through YouTube Podcasts, you’ll first want to copy your RSS feed URL from Wistia. You can find your RSS feed URL under the "Distribution" tab in your Podcast settings.

2. Log in to YouTube Studio

Using a new or existing YouTube account, log in to YouTube Studio.

3. Submit your RSS feed URL to YouTube

In YouTube Studio, go to "Content," then "Podcasts," and click "Create podcast." Choose "From RSS feed," then paste your Wistia RSS feed URL. Follow YouTube's documentation to publish your episodes.

4. Copy your YouTube playlist URL

Once YouTube creates your podcast, go to "Content," then "Podcasts," open your podcast, click "Share," and copy the playlist URL.

5. Head back to "Connect" next to YouTube Podcasts

From the Distribution tab in Wistia, select "Connect" next to YouTube Podcasts again. Scroll down to paste your YouTube Podcasts URL, and then click "Submit." This connects your YouTube Podcast URL to Wistia, so your Channel visitors can subscribe directly to your podcast on YouTube from within your Channel.

To distribute your podcast on iHeartRadio, you’ll first want to copy your RSS feed URL from Wistia. You can find the link to your RSS feed under the “Distribution” tab in your Podcast settings.

2. Submit your podcast to iHeartRadio

On the iHeartRadio website, enter your Email, Podcast Title, and RSS Feed through the form on the page. Once you submit this information, you’ll receive a confirmation email from iHeartRadio explaining that it can take up to 14 business days to complete your request.

To distribute your podcast on Pandora, you’ll first want to copy your RSS feed URL from Wistia. You can find the link to your RSS feed under the “Distribution” tab in your Podcast settings.

2. Create a Pandora Account

Go to the Pandora for Podcasters website and click the “Get Started” button. We recommend creating a new account using an email specific to your podcast or podcast creation team.

3. Submit your podcast to Pandora for Podcasters

Now, submit your RSS feed and confirm your podcast and owner details. Once you submit your podcast, it will take 4–6 weeks to be approved.

To distribute your podcast on Spotify, you’ll first want to copy your RSS feed URL from Wistia. You can find your RSS Feed URL under the “Distribution” tab in your Podcast settings.

2. Log in to Spotify for Creators

To get started, navigate to Spotify for Creators and select "Get Started." Log in or create a new account and accept the terms and conditions.

3. Verify ownership of your podcast feed

Paste your RSS feed URL into Spotify. After submitting your RSS feed, select "Next" to verify ownership of your RSS feed. Spotify will send a confirmation code to your email address.

4. Add podcast details & submit

Spotify requires a few extra details to help their listeners find your podcast. Complete the details about where your podcast is made, its primary language, your hosting provider (for Wistia podcast hosting, select "other/I don’t know"), and primary category. Submit these details, and make sure everything looks correct. If it does, finish submitting your podcast for distribution.

5. Head back to "Connect" under Spotify

Once Spotify approves your podcast, select "Connect" next to Spotify again. Scroll down to paste your Spotify URL, and then click "Submit." This connects your Spotify URL to Wistia, so any Channel visitor can subscribe to your podcast on Spotify directly from your Channel.

Once your podcast has been submitted and approved in a directory, and you’ve connected your podcast URL to Wistia, you’ll be able to see which directories you’ve connected in the "Distribution" tab.

Click the pencil icon to edit the podcast URL or click "Disconnect" to disconnect your podcast.

If an episode is missing, check that it’s been published in Wistia and that the directory accepts your media type (i.e., mp4). If you just submitted it, it may take a bit for new episodes to show up.

Podcast directories check your RSS feed on their own schedule, so timing can vary. Spotify and Apple usually pick up new episodes within a few hours, but it can occasionally take up to 24 hours.

Confirm your feed is public, has at least one published episode, and that your podcast has all required details filled in under Podcast Settings (title, description, cover art, etc.). Directories like Apple will reject a feed that's missing any of these.

Make sure your Channel has a description on its overview page, and that the email address under Podcast Settings > Feed details matches the email on your Spotify for Creators account. Spotify uses that email to verify you own the feed. My episode is on Apple Podcasts but not Spotify.

Wistia doesn't push episodes to directories. Each app reads your Wistia RSS feed on its own schedule. If the episode shows on Apple, it's in your feed. Log in to Spotify for Creators and check for RSS errors or notices on your show. Spotify may also remove episodes that break its policies, such as episodes that are mostly music.

Directories display your podcast differently, and Wistia's Channel customization settings don't carry over. Apple picks its page colors from your cover art, so updating the artwork is the best way to change how your show looks there.
