There are many ways to upload media to your Wistia account. However, if you’re hoping to save yourself a few steps, you may want to consider importing your video by URL. To get started, all you’ll need is a public URL containing a video or audio file.

Import your video from a URL

You can access the Import from URL feature from the "Upload" option on your Home page, the “+ Create” button at the top of your account, the “Add” button in a folder, or the “Add” button in the Content Library.

After clicking “Import from URL,” paste a publicly available link that has one primary video on the page, and “Continue.”

Note

This feature will only work for publicly available links. Pages that are hidden behind a login will automatically fail.

Tip

Wistia-hosted media cannot be imported this way. We recommend using our Move & Copy feature to transfer videos between accounts instead.

Tip

Import from URL will not pull in captions or languages available on the original video. Automated transcripts are included for free on all all current Wistia plans, but must be ordered at an additional cost on legacy plans. Transcripts cannot be ordered on legacy free accounts as they require a credit card on file. You can learn more about ordering transcripts here.
