Webinar Limits: Attendees, Duration, and Presenters

How many attendees, minutes, and on-stage presenters your webinars include, and what happens if you go over.

Webinar limits by plan

Webinar limits depend on the webinar add-on you’ve selected for your subscription.

The Webinars add-on includes:

  • Up to 500 attendees per webinar

  • Up to 90 minutes per webinar

  • Up to 9 presenters on stage at once

The Webinars Plus add-on includes:

  • Up to 1,000 attendees per webinar

  • Up to 180 minutes per webinar

  • Up to 9 presenters on stage at once

We'll explain each limit in more detail below.

Webinar attendee limits

Your included attendee count is the number of people who join your webinar, not the number who register.

  • Registration isn't capped. Your registration page stays open no matter how many people sign up.

  • You can't set a hard cap on attendees or registrants.

  • If more people join than your plan includes, everyone can still get in. Extra attendees are counted as additional usage after the webinar ends.

Tip

Planning an especially large webinar? Contact your account’s Success Manager or our Support team before the event so we can help you plan.

Webinar duration limits

Your plan includes 90 minutes (Webinars) or 180 minutes (Webinars Plus) per webinar. You can go past that, and the extra time counts as additional minutes.

A webinar can technically run for up to 4 hours and 30 minutes. Once it reaches that duration, the webinar and its recording end automatically.

On-stage presenter limits

Up to 9 hosts and panelists can be on stage at the same time on both Webinars and Webinars Plus.

Webinar Limits FAQ

What happens if I go over my webinar limits?

Your attendee and duration limits are soft limits. Wistia never stops a webinar or blocks attendees because you've gone over.

  • You won't get a notification during the webinar if you go over a limit.

  • Overages are calculated after the webinar ends and billed at your plan's overage rates.

Will refreshing the page end my webinar?

No. If a host or panelist refreshes their page or briefly loses their connection, the webinar keeps going. A webinar ends when:

  • A host ends the webinar

  • The webinar reaches the 4.5-hour maximum

  • No hosts or panelists have been in the event room for about 5 minutes

Note

Audience members don't keep a webinar running. If every host and panelist leaves the event room, the webinar ends after about 5 minutes, even if attendees are still watching. This doesn't apply to pre-recorded webinars, which end when the video finishes playing.

Is there a limit to how many webinars I can run at once?

There's no limit on how many webinars your account can run at the same time. However, we highly recommend hosting each webinar from its own computer.
