The media analytics page is a great place to find detailed insights about your embedded media. To start diving in, head to any media in your account, click "Analytics," then check out the "Embed" tab.

Here, you'll find a compilation of the analytics data in various formats to make reviewing media performance a breeze. We also offer accessibility and language support insights so you can ensure your audience has all the tools they might need. We'll break down everything below!

Timeframe

To filter your media embed analytics for a specific timeframe, select the “Last 30 days” dropdown at the top of the page.

Using this, you can apply the following preset timeframes or create your own.

  • Last 7 days

  • Last 30 days

  • Last 90 days

  • Last 365 days

  • This week

  • This month

  • This quarter

  • This year

  • All available

Tip

Click "Compare" at the top of the page to compare your media analytics against other media in your account. Visit our Compare Media page for more details.

Metrics

We display the following data at a glance on the Embed tab of your media analytics. These metrics are based on the selected timeframe.

  • Visits: The number of times the media was loaded on the page (including repeat visits from the same viewer).

  • Plays: The number of times the media was played (including replays).

  • Play rate: Out of the number of people who loaded the media on a page, this percentage of people played it.

  • Time played: The amount of time viewers spent watching or listening to your media.

  • Engagement: The average amount of time viewers spent consuming your media.

Top embed location

The graph on the Embed tab of your media analytics can display any of the metrics shown (Visits, Plays, Play rate, Time played, or Engagement). Change the graph by clicking on the metric you’d like to view.

To adjust the granularity, click the "Day" dropdown. This will allow you to view the data by day, week, or month. If you'd like to download the graph as an image, click the download icon next to the Day dropdown.

If your media is embedded in multiple locations, this graph will show the top five locations. Hovering over different points on the graph will show you the data for each embedded location.

Embed location summary

The Embed location summary table on the Embed tab displays the top ten embedded locations, so you can see a breakdown of where your traffic is coming from.

The embedded locations shown include any page where your media is played. For example, a webpage embed, your media's page in Wistia, or a Channel if the media is referenced there as well.

Click the “Show” dropdown to specify the data points you’d like to see in the table.

The toggleable options include:

  • Placement

  • Size

  • Visits

  • Unique visitors

  • Plays

  • Engagement

  • Play Rate

  • Time Played

  • Conversion Rate

Click “Export” to receive a CSV file of all available metrics for your embedded locations. If your media has more than 10 embed locations, you can view the complete list in the export.

Accessibility Checklist

The accessibility checklist outlines recommended accessibility guidelines and shows which guidelines your video meets. Click an item in the checklist to go directly to the Customize panel and update it.
