The Event room is where the magic happens; it’s where your webinar will take place. You can fine-tune the experience for all in attendance by navigating to Customize, then clicking the “Event room” tab.

The settings you configure here will determine what hosts, panelists, and audience members can see or access during your webinar. We’ll walk you through each section below.

Audience engagement

In the Audience engagement section of the Event room tab, you can manage how your audience interacts with your webinar.

First, decide whether to enable or disable access to the Chat, Q&A, or Polls. You can learn more about each of these features in our Live Event Audience Interaction article.

Next, choose to show or hide the attendee count with the “Show attendee count” toggle. This will determine if the audience can see a live count of the number of people currently viewing your webinar.

Finally, optionally set a Redirect URL, which will send your audience to the URL you specify immediately after your webinar ends.

Stage settings

Stage background

From the Stage setting section, you have the ability to change the appearance of the stage background. This is the area directly behind presenters, media, and screenshares.

To change the stage background color, ensure “Color” is selected and open the dropdown. Here, choose a custom color or select one from your Brand Kit.

If you prefer a stage background image, select “Image,” then upload an image, or click “Unsplash” to choose from free high-res stock images.

Webcam virtual background

Another option under Stage settings is Webcam virtual background. Here, you can upload a custom virtual background for any host or panelist to use during the webinar.

Tip

For the best fit, virtual background images should have a 16:9 aspect ratio. Head over to our Live Event Technical Recommendations page for more on virtual background specs.

As you're entering the Event room, you'll have the option to blur your background or select a virtual background.

If you'd like to change or remove your virtual background during your webinar, you can do so from the "Video" option in the Event room. We cover this option in more detail in The Webinar Event Room article.

Buttons

Within the Buttons section of the Event room tab, you can add and/or customize buttons that appear in the Event room.

If “Show share button” is enabled, it will display a “Copy event link” button at the top of the Event room. When clicked, an invite link will be copied to the attendee's clipboard. This will allow audience members to easily share your event with others.

If “Show custom button” is enabled, a button with custom text and a URL of your choosing will appear at the top of the Event room. This will open in a new tab when clicked.

Wistia branding

The Show “Powered by Wistia” toggle displays or hides the “Powered by Wistia” badge in the Event room. This badge links to our Webinar Product page when clicked. You can find this setting in the Branding overrides section.

Branding overrides

We recommend keeping the customizations applied from the Brand tab, but if you want more flexibility, you can access these override options. Changes made in the Branding overrides section will override customizations applied from the Brand tab.

Logo

In the Logo section of Branding overrides, you can do the following:

  • Determine whether your logo is displayed in the Event room.

  • Choose a logo from your Brand Kit or upload a logo, specifically for the Event room.

  • Use the slider to adjust the size of the Event room logo.

  • Define where your audience will be directed when they click the Event room logo.

Color

The Dark mode toggle in the Color section determines whether dark mode is on or off in the Event room.

The Sidebar background color sets the color of the sidebar that displays the Chat, Q&A, and Polls.
