Present Media in Webinar

Learn how you can add media to show during your webinar.

Written by Caroline F

Play videos or show a presentation directly in a webinar! With this feature, you can create a playlist of your Wistia videos for each webinar and play them natively during the webinar. You can also upload a PDF of slides from your computer to present.

Note

Only hosts can add and/or interact with videos during a webinar.

Present media

To get started, navigate to the Event room by clicking "Join event room," then "Join as host."

From the Event room, click the “Present” tab in the side panel.

From here, you’ll be able to select videos from your Wistia account to add to the queue or upload a PDF of slides to present.

Present videos

After selecting a video, you can click "Add" any time to add more videos (or slides) to present.

This media list can be used at any point during your webinar.

Tip

Hosts can join the Event room at any time before the webinar to pre-populate the queue with media. Audience members can enter the Event room up to 30 minutes before the webinar starts.

To bring a video on stage, hover over it and click “Play on stage.” The video will automatically begin playing.

Note

When a video is playing, hosts and panelists will be muted and cannot be brought on stage.

The video can be removed at any time to bring hosts or panelists back on stage.

Once the video is over, the host can either choose another video to play on stage in its place or remove the existing video from the stage.

  • Playing another video on stage will switch out the two videos and begin playing the new video.

  • Removing the existing video from the stage will automatically revert the stage layout to its previous state.

Present slides

After clicking "Present" and choosing the option to add slides, you can upload a PDF to present to your audience.

Tip

Only hosts can add slides to an event. However, both hosts and panelists can control the slides on stage. They must be on stage to be heard while presenting. Anyone off stage is muted.

To begin presenting your slides, hover over the presentation thumbnail and click "Add to stage."

Presenters can be brought on stage or remain off stage during the presentation. Presenters who are off stage are muted.

Navigate slides

Slides can be controlled by hosts and panelists using:

  • The arrows that appear on the stage.

  • The arrows that appear on the thumbnail.

  • The left and right arrow keys on a keyboard.

Tip

Hosts can join the Event room at any time to add the slides ahead of the event.

Delete media

To delete a video or slides from the queue, hover over the thumbnail, then click the trash icon.

Note

You cannot delete a video or slides unless they have been removed from the stage.

Present Media in Webinar FAQs

Can I loop a video I'm presenting?

Any video you're presenting doesn't loop automatically. To repeat a short clip, countdown, or intro video, upload a longer version with the loop built into the file, or play the video again manually when it ends. When you're ready, hover over the video and click "Play on stage."

Can I upload a PowerPoint file with my slides?

At this time, you'll need to upload a PDF file with your slides. If your slides are in Google Slides, PowerPoint, or another tool, export the deck as a PDF first. Then, in the Event room, open "Present," choose the option to add slides, and upload the PDF. This avoids the window-sizing and alignment issues that can happen when screen-sharing a deck.

I'm a panelist. Can I upload slides?

Only hosts are able to upload slides; however, both hosts and panelists can control slides. They must be on stage to be heard while presenting. Anyone off stage is muted.
