A motion kit is the set of animated graphics Mochine adds to your videos: titles, lower thirds, transitions, captions, word stacks, and quote pulls. Mochine comes with three built-in kits (Standard, Pop, and Elevated), and you can create custom kits that use your logo, colors, and fonts, or a completely new look you describe.
In this article, we'll cover what custom motion kits cost, how to create and edit one, how to use it in your videos, and tips for getting the best result.
Note
Account Owners, Managers, and Standard users can use Mochine. Limited users can use Mochine if they have “Can manage” access to at least one folder. Any member of the account can create, edit, rename and delete motion kits.
How custom motion kits are priced
Included motion kits
Every account gets custom motion kits at no extra cost:
Plan | Included custom motion kits |
Free | 1 |
Paid plans | 3 |
Included kits expire after one year.
If you upgrade from Free to a paid plan, your included kits go up to 3.
If you cancel or downgrade from a paid plan to Free, any included kits you haven't used are forfeited. Kits you already made stay in your account.
Deleting a custom kit doesn't give you an included kit back.
You can see how many included kits you have left, and when they expire, when you start creating a kit (for example, "2 included motion kits remaining").
After your included kits
Once your included kits are used up, each new custom motion kit costs 2,500 credits.
Revisions
Each custom kit includes 3 revisions. After that, each revision costs 250 credits.
A revision is one chat request, no matter how many changes it contains. For example, "make the lower thirds bigger, use our navy blue for titles, and slow down the transitions" counts as a single revision.
The kit panel shows how many included revisions you have left on that kit.
Tip
You're only charged when your kit finishes building. If a kit fails to build, or you delete it before it finishes, no credits are used.
If you don't have enough credits, Mochine will let you know before it starts and show you the option to buy more. To learn about top-ups and credit subscriptions, check out Understanding Wistia Credits.
Create a custom motion kit
You can start a new kit two ways:
Open the motion kit picker in Mochine and click "Make your own."
Ask for one in the chat, for example "Make me a motion kit based on acme.com."
Mochine walks you through up to three steps. Use the arrows at the top to move back and forth before you create the kit.
Step 1: Choose where the look comes from
Use my website (recommended): Mochine pulls the logo, colors, and fonts from your site. Enter your website URL. If you already typed a URL in chat, it's filled in for you.
Use my Brand Kit: Mochine uses the logo, colors, and fonts saved in your Wistia account. If you have more than one Brand Kit, click "Swap Brand Kit" to choose another.
Create a new look: Start from scratch and describe the style you want in the next step.
Click "Next."
Step 2: Describe the look and feel
Tell Mochine what the kit should feel like: your brand's personality, a theme, colors, styles, or a specific campaign. For example, "Apply a holiday theme that feels warm and nostalgic" or "1980s retro VHS feel with pink and blue graphics and CRT motion effects."
You can also click "Add an inspirational image" to upload up to 4 reference images. Mochine uses them to inform design elements like colors and shapes.
Supported formats: .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .webp
Each image must be under 3.5 MB, and under 10 MB total
You can use a description, images, or both.
Step 3: Pick your logo
If you started from your website, or from a Brand Kit with more than one logo, choose the logo to use. You can pick one Mochine found, or select "My own logo" to upload one (.svg, .png, .jpg, or .jpeg).
Note
You can't change the logo once you select it, so choose carefully. Vector logos (.svg) look the sharpest. If you pick a non-vector logo, Mochine will convert it to a vector for you.
Step 4: Create the kit
Click "Create motion kit." Building a kit takes a few minutes, and you can watch Mochine build each graphic in real time.
When it's done, preview the graphics in both 1:1 and 9:16 sizes.
Your new kit appears in the motion kit picker alongside any other custom kits you've created, as well as the built-in Standard, Pop, and Elevated ones.
Edit a custom motion kit
To make changes, in the Motion kits modal, hover over a motion kit and click the pencil icon, then describe what you'd like to change in the chat. Each chat request counts as one revision (see Revisions above).
You can also:
Adjust colors and fonts using the color controls in the kit preview toolbar. Your logo's colors can't be changed.
Describe a single graphic under its tile to change just that element.
Note
Built-in kits can't be changed directly. If you edit Standard, Pop, or Elevated, Mochine creates an editable copy (for example, "Pop-copy") in your custom kits. Making a copy of built-in kits does not use credits. This makes an editable copy, ready right away, with 3 included revisions.
Use a motion kit in your videos
When Mochine builds a video, it adds graphics from your selected motion kit and pulls on-screen text from your video's transcript. Graphics show up in the timeline as chips on purple tracks.
To use a different kit:
Ask in chat, for example "Use my Holiday 2025 kit," or
Open the Motion kit settings and select a kit.
You can switch kits on a video at any time through the motion kit settings picker; using a kit in a video doesn't cost extra beyond your normal Mochine creation.
Tip
Want to see a kit in action before using it on your own footage? Try it on Wistia's sample video from the kit preview.
Manage your motion kits
In the Motion kit modal, use the filters to view Presets (built-in kits) or Custom kits. Click "View all" to see every kit.
To delete a custom kit, click the three dots on the kit and select "Delete motion kit."
Then, confirm your decision in the modal.
Note
Deleting a motion kit is permanent and can't be undone. Deleting a kit doesn't give you back an included kit or any credits.
You can select a custom kit to be your default for new videos. To do so, open the Motion kit modal and click the ellipsis. Then, click "Make default." The kit then shows a Default badge.
Note
The default setting is per-user and not for the whole account.
Motion kit best practices
Start from your website when you can
It's the fastest way to get accurate logos, colors, and fonts. Use "Create a new look" for campaigns or styles that are intentionally different from your brand.
Be specific about the feel
"Modern and clean" gives Mochine little to go on. Describe personality, energy, and context: "Confident and minimal for B2B product demos, lots of white space, bold sans-serif titles."
Add reference images
A screenshot of a campaign landing page, an ad, or a mood board helps Mochine match shapes and color treatments.
Use a vector logo
Upload an .svg if you have one. Since the logo can't be changed later, double-check it before you click "Create motion kit."
Batch your revisions
Since each chat request is one revision, list all your changes in a single message instead of sending them one at a time. This helps you get the most out of your 3 included revisions.
Use the color controls for small color tweaks
Color changes made using the color swatch editor do not count as revisions and are free to make.
Plan your kits
With 1 or 3 included kits per year, save them for looks you'll reuse, like your core brand kit and one or two major campaigns.
Check every format
Preview your kit in both 1:1 and 9:16, and try it on the sample video, before using it across your videos.
Motion kit troubleshooting and FAQ
I don't have enough credits to create a kit
Once your included kits are used, each kit costs 2,500 credits. Buy a top-up or credit subscription from the prompt in Mochine, then try again. Check out Understanding Wistia Credits to learn more.
My kit failed to build
You won't be charged for a kit that doesn't finish. Try creating it again. If it keeps failing, contact our Support team.
I claimed a motion kit from a Mochine link. Did that use one of my included kits?
No. Claimed kits don't count toward your included kits. To claim a kit, sign up with an email address that matches the kit's website domain.
Mochine didn't pull the right logo or colors from my website
Pick or upload the correct logo in Step 3, or start from your Brand Kit instead. You can adjust colors after the kit is built using the color controls.
Can I change my kit's logo after it's created?
No. To use a different logo, create a new kit.
