Understanding Wistia Credits

Learn how Wistia credits work and how to manage your balance.

Written by Caroline F

Wistia Credits are a single, unified way to pay for usage across several features in your account, such as Remix, dubbing, and Audio Descriptions. Instead of tracking each one on its own bill, they all draw from one balance. In this article, we'll cover what a credit is, what uses credits, how your included credits work, and how to buy more.

Tip

Credits are separate from your storage and bandwidth. To learn about those, check out Understanding Storage Limits and Account Usage and Bandwidth.

What is a credit?

A credit is the unit Wistia uses to measure and pay for usage of certain agentic features, including Remix, and per-minute services like video dubbing and AI Audio Descriptions.

Each AI action uses a different amount of credits, which we’ll break down below.

What uses credits

Credits apply to specific production and advanced AI actions. We’ve outlined exactly what actions use credits, and how many credits those actions use, below.

Many other actions in your account are included in your plan and do not consume credits, such as:

  • Publishing and hosting videos

  • Editing videos with standard tools

  • Viewing analytics and reports

  • Sharing and embedding

  • Connecting to MCP, Slack, or the in-app agent

  • API and MCP reads and uploads

Tip

Publishing, hosting, and playback never use credits—only the specific AI and production actions listed above do.

How included credits work

Every plan includes a set amount of credits at no extra cost. Free accounts get a one-time amount that doesn't expire, and paid plans get an amount that resets at the start of their Wistia account’s billing date.

Plan

Included credits

Free

3,000, one-time (does not expire)

Business

5,000 per month (resets each month, no roll over)

Enterprise

Custom monthly allotment

Included monthly credits don't roll over—any monthly credits you don't use reset at the start of your next billing cycle. Purchased credits (top-ups) are the exception—those stay on your account until they expire.

Credit balance and usage

Account Owners and Managers can see the account's credit balance and usage on the Account Usage page, in the Credits tab.

You'll also see your balance wherever you’re taking an action that uses credits. This means that when ordering a dub, for example, you’ll see exactly how many credits you have here. The same goes for using Remix and all other agentic actions that use credits, so you always know where you stand before starting an action.

If you request an action and don’t have sufficient credits to complete it, you’ll get a notification before the action begins (i.e. ordering a dub, but you don’t have sufficient credits for the whole video). You’ll have the option to purchase more credits through a top-up or subscription in order to take the action.

Buying more credits

If you use up your included credits, you can add more without upgrading your plan. There are a couple of different ways to add more credits to your account.

Top-ups

Top-ups are prepaid credits you can buy as you need more. They're charged immediately, expire 12 months from the purchase date, and are only used after your plan's included credits are gone. Top-ups start at $25.

Tip

When you have both included credits and purchased top-ups in your account, your plan's included credits are always spent first. Top-ups are only drawn down once your included credits for the current billing cycle are used up.

Credit subscriptions

Credit subscriptions let you add a recurring amount to your monthly balance, and are used after your plan’s included credits are gone.

If you have top-ups in addition to a credits subscription, your plan will use the included credits first, then subscription credits and then top-ups last.
