In this article, we'll cover storage limits, what's included in your account, and tips for managing and organizing your content.

What counts towards your storage

Each Wistia plan comes with a set amount of storage for your content.

This encompasses any file that you upload to your account, including video, audio, document, and image files. While you can upload many different file types to Wistia, some of these will have more limited functionality.

The full Wistia feature-set is available with video and audio files, which means that you can customize, embed, and view analytics for these media.

For other file types, you can use a Wistia media URL to share the file for others to view and download.

For a full breakdown of the file formats that Wistia supports, check out our Export Settings article.

Any file you upload counts towards your storage limit. If you choose to archive any media within your account, these still count towards your storage.

If you're approaching the storage limit included on your plan, you can purchase additional storage blocks, or remain on pay-as-you-go billing.

Understanding storage use and costs

Total storage costs are calculated at the end of each billing cycle. There are lots of way to effectively manage your content library and have more control over associated costs.

Account Usage page

You can keep track of how much storage you've used on your Account Usage page. You'll see trackers here that show you how much storage you've used.

If you've exceeded your included storage, you'll see that here as well. You can also choose to add storage.

On a paid plan, if you haven't purchased an additional storage block but upload files that exceed your included storage, you'll be on pay-as-you-go billing and your account will automatically get an additional storage block added to it for that billing cycle that covers what you've used.

If you remove files and don't exceed your storage for your next billing cycle, you will not pay for an additional storage block.

If you've purchased and prepaid for an additional storage block and exceed what's included in that storage block, you'll be charged for another storage block that covers that extra amount.

Organizing and deleting content

There are multiple ways you can organize your account to keep track of your content, such as using folders and sub-folders, in addition to archive. Check out our Media Management article for a full breakdown.

If you'd like to avoid pay-as-you-go billing, you can also delete content. You can export analytics to get a better sense of any files you'd like to delete.

Purchase additional storage

If you're approaching your storage limit and you're not able to delete any content, you can purchase additional storage on any paid plan.

Tip

If you upload more than your included storage on a paid plan, your account will automatically add on an additional storage block for that month. This will be whatever the next block up is to cover the storage. For example, if you've reached your included storage on the plan, and add an additional 50GB of files, the added storage block will be 100GB. If you add an additional 125GB of files, you'll pay for the 250GB block. If you've subscribed and prepaid for a 100GB storage block and use an additional 10GB for a month, you'll be charged for another 100GB storage block.
