When you connect your ActiveCampaign account to Wistia, you can send captured leads to ActiveCampaign lists of your choice.

Whether you're using a Turnstile, Channel subscription form, or webinar registration, you can choose ActiveCampaign lists to send new contact information to.

With contacts in your ActiveCampaign account, you can add them to automation workflows, segment based on lists, and send personalized email campaigns.

Connect to ActiveCampaign in Wistia

To get started, head to the Integrations page in your account settings.

Note

You must be an Account Owner or Manager to access this page.

In the Email section of the Integrations page, select ActiveCampaign. You'll land on the Integration Details page:

Here, click "Set up." Locate your API URL and API key in your ActiveCampaign account, and paste them into Wistia.

  1. In ActiveCampaign, click "Settings" to open up your account settings menu.

  2. Click "Developer" to access your API information.

  3. Copy your API URL and API key into Wistia.

  4. Click "Connect" in Wistia.

Send Wistia leads to ActiveCampaign

With ActiveCampaign connected to your Wistia account, you can send leads to lists through three forms:

  1. Turnstile

  2. Channel subscriptions

  3. Webinar registration

Connect Turnstile to an ActiveCampaign list

Navigate to a video in your Wistia account you'd like to set up a Turnstile for. Click "Customize" and open up the "Turnstile" option.

Set your desired Turnstile preferences, then scroll down and check off "ActiveCampaign" in the Select an integration section.

Once checked off, select your ActiveCampaign list from the dropdown menu. When you've completed customizing your Turnstile, click "Save."

Now, any Turnstile entries will port over to your ActiveCampaign list.

Connect Channel subscription form to ActiveCampaign list

Head to your Wistia Channel and click "Customize" to adjust your Channel settings. Select "Email Subscribers," then check off "Show Subscribe button."

Adjust your Channel subscription form and scroll down to the Provider section, where ActiveCampaign will be listed.

Note

ActiveCampaign must be set as your primary integration.

Select your desired list to send leads to, and click "Save."

With your subscription form and ActiveCampaign list set up, any Channel subscribers will be added to your chosen list.

Connect webinar registration form to ActiveCampaign list

When you set up registration for your webinar, you can select an ActiveCampaign list to send registrants to.

On your webinar's page, open up the "Customize" dropdown and click "Registration form".

With ActiveCampaign connected, scroll down and click "Connect to ActiveCampaign." In the modal, select the list you'd like to send registrants and attendees to. Then, click "Connect to ActiveCampaign list."

When you connect your ActiveCampaign list, all current and future registrants, as well as attendees, will be synced to the list.

Sync viewer engagement data

Note

Engagement data syncing requires a Legacy Advanced or Premium subscription, or the Automation Suite Add-On.

Lead capture sync—without engagement data—is available on Legacy Pro and Business plans.

The following credentials are required to sync Wistia engagement data (i.e., video plays, webinar activity) to ActiveCampaign:

  • Event Tracking Key

  • Account ID (actid)

Note

The Event Key and Account ID are required to sync engagement data even if you’ve previously connected the ActiveCampaign integration in Wistia.

The event tracking key is not accessible via ActiveCampaign’s API and must be provided manually. To obtain this information:

  1. Navigate to “Website” → “Site Tracking” in ActiveCampaign.

  2. Scroll down to the “Event Tracking” section and toggle the status to “ON”.

  3. Copy the Event Key.

  4. Click the “Event Tracking API” link and copy your Account ID (actid).

Once you've connected the integration and enabled event tracking, the following steps are required for engagement data to be sent to ActiveCampaign:

  1. Visitors must submit a Wistia form (i.e., Turnstile or webinar registration). Engagement data will not be synced for anonymous viewers.

  2. The contact will be created or updated in ActiveCampaign with their first and last name and email address. The email address serves as a unique identifier and will not be overwritten.

  3. Wistia sends the video or webinar viewing activity to ActiveCampaign.

This activity can then be used to trigger automations or segments in ActiveCampaign.

Email campaign embed with ActiveCampaign

Tip

You can generate an ActiveCampaign merge tag without connecting the integration in your Wistia account.

With an Email Campaign embed, you can paste a clickable thumbnail into the email body of a campaign. This contains a merge tag that captures visitor information to show in your Wistia analytics.

On your media page, click "Embed" and navigate to the "Email" tab. In the Email Provider list, set your provider to "ActiveCampaign."

You'll also want to set the thumbnail size, add the URL you'd like your thumbnail to link to, and set the video's play behavior.

You can also optionally click to "Show Email Merge Tag" to view the code.

Then, click "Copy Tag" and paste it into the email builder for your ActiveCampaign email.

When you send out your email campaign, recipients who click the thumbnail link and play the video will then be identified in your Wistia analytics.

Manage your audience in ActiveCampaign

To access your contacts in ActiveCampaign, select "Contacts" from the left sidebar. Here, you can see a complete list of your contacts and click to view lists, manage segments, and more.

On your Lists page, click your desired list to view the contacts you've collected there.

Check out ActiveCampaign's documentation to learn more about managing your contacts, lists, and segmenting.
