Customize Video Page

Customize the appearance and accessibility of your public video page.

Written by Katie

Video page customizations will be visible to all anonymous viewers through a public share link. If you're looking to customize the player controls and appearance, refer to our player customization overview.

Note

Public video page customization options are available on all paid Wistia plans.

Preview video page

To customize a public video page, select “Preview” from the dropdown menu on your video's manage page.

Alternatively, click “Customize” and toggle to the “Video Page” tab.

Here, you can see a preview of how your video page appears to the public and choose from several customization options including background colors, fonts, and whether to display the title and description. You can also enable audience comments if you'd like.

Remember to click "Save" at the top right of the page after making any changes.

Appearance & brand

In the Appearance & brand tab of the video page Customize menu, there are multiple options to set, including applying a brand, page background color, fonts and font sizes, and player rounded corners.

Tip

To set these appearance options once for every video page in your account, an Account Owner or Manager can configure them at the Brand Kit level from the Brand Assets page. Individual video pages can still override the account default if you'd like.

Applied brand

You can choose to apply a brand that you've set up as part of your Brand Assets.

Open up the Change brand dropdown menu, and select the brand that you'd like to apply. You can choose to reset this to your account's default at any time.

Primary color

Set up a custom primary color for your public video page.

You can set this to be any color you'd like, and if you've added colors to your Brand Assets, they'll appear as options here as well.

Player icon color

By default, we ensure the player icon color is accessible.

Check out our accessibility overview for more information.

Player control opacity

Choose whether you'd like the player controls to be translucent or opaque.

Page background color

For the page background color, you can choose amongst several options, including the available default options, or a custom color.

For the primary color you've set, you can select a dark or light version of this, or select black or white.

Rounded corners

With this option, you can drag the slider along the bar to choose how rounded you'd like the corners of the player to be.

Fonts

You can also choose from a list of fonts for both the header and body. You can also adjust the size of the title font.

Controls

Video page control options include the media title and description, transcript, and audience comments.

Media title and description

With the "Media title" and "Media description" options toggled on, the title and description will be displayed below the media player.

Transcript

Toggle the "Transcript" option on to display the entire media transcript at the bottom of the public video page.

Comments

Toggle the "Comments" option on to allow viewers to leave comments on the public video page.

For further details on team and audience comments, check out this article.

  • PDF

  • Word

  • PowerPoint

  • Excel

  • CSV

  • JPG

  • PNG

  • TIFF

  • BMP

  • DCM

If the media is in a Channel, the resources will display there as well.

Attachment

For an attachment, click "Upload a file." Then, you can choose the display name for the file, and drag and drop it or click to upload it.

Once you've added a file, click "Upload."

When you upload the file, it will appear in a Resources section on the public media page. When a visitor clicks it, the resource will download for them.

Click the pencil icon to update the display name of the resource, or delete it.

You can also keep a resource on file, but disable it so it doesn't display.

Once you've added a resource, you can click "Add Resource" and select from a file or link to add more.

Once you're all set, click "Save."

Link

To add a link to a media page, click "Create link" and then add the display name and the URL.

Click "Create" and then the link will display as a tile on your video page.

When a visitor clicks the link, it will open in a new tab. Click the pencil icon to update the display name and URL or, delete it. You can also disable a link so it doesn't display, but keep it on file.

When you've added a resource, click "Add resource" and then select from the upload or link option to add more.

Once you're all set, click "Save."

Share public video page

Once you’ve customized your video page, it’s time to share it with your audience.

You can quickly copy your public video page URL by clicking the link icon next to the "Share" button.

Alternatively, open the Share modal and click "Copy link". Here, you may also link to a specific time, generate an expiring link, and manage access settings. See our media sharing overview for more information and share options.

Tip

Copy and paste your media link into a new tab to see exactly how it looks for your viewers.

Public video page layouts

When you share your public media page, all desktop viewers have the option to toggle between two views: Theater and Balanced.

Theater view

The video player is front and center with supporting content below.

Balanced view

Video player and content are side by side.

Viewers can toggle between these views at any time without interrupting playback, and their preference is remembered across viewing sessions.
