As of May 19, 2026, you'll find three different types of share links on each of your media pages:

Previously, legacy media page URLs (e.g., https://support.wistia.com/medias/tewncxmu40) had no distinction for internal and public viewers. Now, you can be confident the link you've shared is the right one for your intended audience. We'll review each link type below.
Public share link
To obtain a public share link for your media, open the Share modal on the media's manage page.
Click the link icon to copy the URL quickly, or open the Share modal for more options.
Your public share link will be formatted as follows: https://support.wistia.com/s/6e7k406iz9fdlgf
This public share URL links to the public video page, which includes the video player, transcript, and any other customizations you've added.
Note
Any customizations you make to your video (captions, trim, thumbnail, etc.) are reflected on the /s/ URL immediately. No need to generate a new link.
Share modal options
In the Share modal, you'll find various share options, including:
Similar to folder permission settings, you may also choose one of the following settings for an individual media:
Unlocked: Anyone with the link can view
Account: Only people in your Wistia account can view
Invited users: Only people with folder access can view
Note
Updating permission settings for a public share link will not impact your existing folder settings.
Open the "Review" tab in the Share modal to generate a review link, or the "Publish" tab to publish your video to a social platform.
Manage URL
When working on a media's manage page in Wistia, you'll see a Manage URL in your browser's address bar. For example: https://support.wistia.com/medias/isn557vwk9/manage
This URL is only accessible to logged-in users with access to that particular media.
If a viewer who is not logged into Wistia opens a Manage URL, they'll be prompted to sign in or view the media page as a guest.
If the folder or media's manage page is locked, they'll be redirected to the Wistia login page without a video preview.
Legacy media page URL
Prior to May 19, 2026, all Wistia links use a /medias/ format, like this:
The alphanumeric string at the end of this kind of link is a hashed ID—a unique identifier used throughout the Wistia platform in embed codes, the API, and other developer tools.
These legacy links are still fully functional and can be copied from the Info section on the media manage page.
